Stephen Jamison

I do not remember a time when I did not draw or paint. Over the years I have worked in oils, watercolour, gouache, ink and pastel. With over 30 years, experience in painting, in 2008 the opportunity arose for me pursue a career as an artist on a full-time basis.

Originally working almost exclusively in portraiture, I later discovered my love of painting wildlife which now predominates my work. My driving motivation is to shine a spotlight on the very real threat of extinction faced by 70% of all wildlife and also draw attention to the myriad of species that go largely unnoticed.

My artwork supports a number of child and animal charities. In this exhibition I chose to demonstrate not just my wildlife art but also figurative work together with some landscapes, I also have a mix of styles from the pure impressionist to more realistic.

I draw inspiration from both the Impressionist movement, the Old Masters and the great modern day wildlife artists. I am currently a member of the Wildlife Art Society International and the Association of Animal Artists. I served as Vice President of the Art Society of Ulster 2017/8 and was elected President in 2019.

I have exhibited with the Royal Ulster Academy and have paintings in private collections in all parts of the UK, Republic of Ireland, USA, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Falkland Islands, Jordan, South Africa, Norway, Taiwan and in the collection of Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council.
