A solitary woman moves forward through a muted, hazy space, her dark sleeveless dress and loose hair giving the figure a quiet, unsettled presence. The small red object held in one hand becomes a subtle point of focus within the otherwise subdued palette of grey, black, blue, beige and soft pink. Painted in Sinco Gaudi’s figurative expressionist style, the work sits within the Life Drawing exhibition, where the artist’s moody tones and in-between state of flesh and sleep shape the atmosphere. Its portrait format and restrained colour range would sit well in a calm, contemporary interior.
